October 23, 2020 - Haul Out - NEW Wesmar Stabilizer Housings

After two days, two people from Boat Snake Yacht Services buffed up the hull with fantastic results.  Looks like any paint touch up to the hull is minimal (meaning a couple of small chips).

Meanwhile, the Wesmar housings have been removed and NEW HOUSINGS have been installed through the 6" hull/block.  New actuators and lever arms will be installed next after we apply fresh paint over the interior hull area and tops of the fins.

Since there were newer 3/8" hydraulic hoses running from the reservoir to the actuators, we had S-3 remove the old 1/2" hydraulic hoses, that were capped off, from the boat.  AMAZINGLY - they ran aft down the boat along the fuel tanks, to the back of the engine room, and then forward to the reservoir under the engine.  It was at least 35 feet of hose to reach the actuators that are 10 feet away!

The smaller hose (3/8") and shorter run looks to have been an attempt to improve performance.  Wesmar agreed with using the 3/8' hoses, and with the controllers moved to the actuator (from the reservoir) we expect better responsiveness from the system.

We have also had Yacht Services remove the inferior PLASTIC SEA STRAINER and WOOD BACKING BLOCK in the lazarette for the water maker and install a proper sea cock and cap off this location.  The plan is to use an existing sea cock that is in the Utility Room (used for a removed Grunert Freezer) for the water maker.  We will move the LP water pump also to this location which should give us better water quality and pressure.

Our Wood Whisperer has done an excellent job of touching up the water damaged spots and open holes.

And we are well into removing the faux teak from the swim step.  We are finally settling in on a plan to go with a gel-coat swim step.  CSR is looking at ordering a template from Gibco called Flex-Mold that will create the same non-skid pattern that is used on the rest of the deck.   https://gibcoflexmold.com/106-gfo/

August 25, 2025 - Everett

August 25, 2025 - Everett An uneventful return to Everett from Roche Harbor.  As we settled in we were soon greeted by Ron and Gretchen and Lois whipped up a nice meal that lasted well into the evening.   This competed 128 days. 3,580 NM of travel on Raven of which 88 days were in SE Alaska.   A good trip with, unfortunately, too much rain.   We had three boardings: US Coast Guard & Customs and Border Patrol Boarding ADFG Boarding CBSA Boarding   We only had a few minor problems: Windlass minor repair Failing transmission rocker switch Failed washdown pump   Our fishing was salmon focused: 17 Coho 22” – 30” 10 Halibut 20” – 31” 26 Dungeness crabs   We experienced some peripheral events: June 16 - Cruise ship breaking its mooring July 29 – Russian Tsunami Aug 10 - Landslide in Tracy Arm   We were gifted lots of wildlife: Humpback whales display Orca whales display Dahls porpoise Harbor porpoise Seals Sea lions Sea otters River ot...

August 18, 2025 - Gowland Harbour We got a good start and made our transit through Seymour Narrows near slack, making our way to Gowlland Harbour where we found many boats at anchor, including  Hodor  and  Lonian  (owned by Lorenzo Fertittta).   Hodor  is the “supply ship” to  Lonian  carrying all sorts of toys.  The next morning, we exchanged greetings with  Harvest Moon  who had anchored late in the afternoon the previous day.
