October 30 2020 - Haul Out - Flybridge Hatch Removal

I missed the removal of this large door from the boat. by Yacht Services  The folks tell me it was probably good I was not there as I may have stressed out about how difficult it was to take it off, move it aft to the boat deck, and then lower it down to the ground (remember the boat is sitting out of the water).  It took for folks to do this operation and they used the davit to lower it along with a rope to keep it away from the hull as it was lowered.  Really wish I had seen this and must capture it going back on!

The good news is after they got it off, turns out the only real issue is the two slide bearings at the top of the door,  The ones on the bottom look to be in good condition!  And after looking at them, Yacht Services believes they have already identified a replacement and do not believe this will require any special fabrication work to replace them.  This is GREAT news and a relief to have this issue being worked.

In the intern they have fabricated a plywood door to cover the opening left on the boat and are busy cleaning up the hatch and getting the repair parts.

August 25, 2025 - Everett

August 25, 2025 - Everett An uneventful return to Everett from Roche Harbor.  As we settled in we were soon greeted by Ron and Gretchen and Lois whipped up a nice meal that lasted well into the evening.   This competed 128 days. 3,580 NM of travel on Raven of which 88 days were in SE Alaska.   A good trip with, unfortunately, too much rain.   We had three boardings: US Coast Guard & Customs and Border Patrol Boarding ADFG Boarding CBSA Boarding   We only had a few minor problems: Windlass minor repair Failing transmission rocker switch Failed washdown pump   Our fishing was salmon focused: 17 Coho 22” – 30” 10 Halibut 20” – 31” 26 Dungeness crabs   We experienced some peripheral events: June 16 - Cruise ship breaking its mooring July 29 – Russian Tsunami Aug 10 - Landslide in Tracy Arm   We were gifted lots of wildlife: Humpback whales display Orca whales display Dahls porpoise Harbor porpoise Seals Sea lions Sea otters River ot...

August 18, 2025 - Gowland Harbour We got a good start and made our transit through Seymour Narrows near slack, making our way to Gowlland Harbour where we found many boats at anchor, including  Hodor  and  Lonian  (owned by Lorenzo Fertittta).   Hodor  is the “supply ship” to  Lonian  carrying all sorts of toys.  The next morning, we exchanged greetings with  Harvest Moon  who had anchored late in the afternoon the previous day.
