April 16, 2021 - SWIM STEP - New Teak Panels - ARRIVED (3 months in the making)

When Raven arrived one of our first priorities was to replace the failing faux teak swim step finish.  We had the old faux teak pulled off by CSR and on January 19th Miller and Miller made a template for a new swim step to be sent off and fabricated by Teakdecking Systems in Florida.

We did a lot of looking at replacement and our preference was to go replace it with a fiberglass covering.  AND we were shocked at how much it was to fiberglass the swim step - estimates ranged from $31,000 to $36,000.  We had also considered re-installation of new faux teak - there were some newer and better products on the market and estimates had it coming in at half the cost of fiberglass estimates at $6,000 to $8,000 plus installation cost.

Out of the blue, Joe Miller asked if we had considered a teak deck.  We had ruled that out as we thought it would be too pricey, however, he shared there is a company in Florida, Teakdecking Systems, that could build one for us.  After getting an estimate, $9,600 plus installation cost, we said lets go with the TDS system!
