April 20 - 26, 2021 - 2021 Selene Non-Rendezvous
We had to interrupt our finishing touches on Raven to attend the 2021 Selene Non-Rendezvous in Roche Harbor. Due to COVID health protocol, we were not permitted to gather as groups in enclosed areas so we made the best of milling about outdoors, keeping our distance with masks, and catching up with our fellow Selene owners. We had 26 boats in attendance, and it would have been larger if our Canadian colleagues could have joined in on the festivities.
On Tuesday we made a straight shot from Miller and Miller Boat Yard, out through the locks to Admiralty Inlet, across the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Haro Strait to Roche Harbor. Easy cruise getting a current boost most of the way. We anchored out Tuesday night in Garrison Bay where we found our old friend, Moonstruck, and our new friends Greg and Mare. We got one of the kayaks down for it's maiden voyage and had a peaceful night on the hook.
Next day, Wednesday, over to Roche Harbor for the start of the Non-Rendezvous lead by Jerry, Jenni and Mark. The turn out and conversations were great - so nice to see these familiar faces. We took one diner ashore at McMillans and invited Brian Taylor to join us - again, nice to catch up. And Carl and Melody invited us to lunch at Westcott Bay Oyster Farm. The oyster and clam preparations were delightful as we enjoyed a wonderful time with Carl and Melody.
Left Roche on Saturday, anchoring at Port Ludlow before arriving at Shilshole Marina on Sunday. Lois had her second COVID shot, so we dashed off for that appointment before returning to the boat. Monday, through the locks and back to Miller and Miller to finish up the final touches on Raven.
