May 12, 2021 - Finishing the teak swim step / Dewatering Pump
The teak swim step is in it's final phase of clean-up with the "proprietary" caulking used to fill the gaps between the panels cured (5-days) and the excess is being removed!
Meanwhile the (emergency) dewatering pump has arrived (110 gpm capability) and is in it final stages of wiring. We added this to the boat (along with an AED) as emergency equipment. Given we had a prior experience with water invading the boat - this seemed prudent.
This is an 110V electric pump. A gasoline pump seemed to add an unwanted hazard and a hydraulic version had constraints with which I did not feel comfortable. The electric version is somewhat mobile (~70 lbs) and can be powered by our batteries (via inverter). Also with a 25 kW and 6 kW generator I concluded we had all sorts of power options to drive the unit.
