June 24, 2021 - San Juan Island Cruising
We departed Everett on the 16th and headed to the San Juan Islands. We stopped in Hunter Bay, Echo Bay, and Deer Harbor before making our way, quick like a bunny, back to Seattle. More on that in a moment.
We had a pleasant time at Hunter Bay until the winds started blowing from the Strait of Juan de Fuca right across the south tip of Lopez into our anchorage. Before the winds kicked up we managed to get some rowing in along with a tender ride around the area.
We decided to go further north to get out of the winds and headed to Sucia. Found a nice anchorage in Echo Bay. We tendered ashore and managed to get a nice stroll along Shallow and Fossil Bay before heading back to Raven. When things settled in the evening we took the tender out for a cruise about the harbor sipping an after dinner glass of wine.
The Admiral needed to make a Zoom call so we headed to Deer Harbor where we could tie up at the QCYC dock and get Wi-Fi. And while at dock, Geary managed to get a bike ride in around the Deer Harbor coast line!
While at Deer Harbor, I got the notification that my new passport was on its way and would arrive the next day. So we high tailed it back home, now have passport in hand, and have an updated float plan for transiting to Alaska!
