July 24, 2021- Coot Cove, Funter Bay

We made our way to Coot Cove, in Funter Bay, bringing us closer to Glacier Bay.  Our plan was to cruise the area around Glacier Bay as we were on the stand-by list for a park permit.  Ironically, we were en-route to Funter Bay when we received a call that day informing us that a permit for that day was available.  Given it was afternoon when we received the call, and we were still 40 nm away, we declined the permit and asked to remain on the stand-by list.

We entered Funter Bay and checked out the anchorage options, settling in Coot Cove, as it was not packed with crab pots.  However, we did settle in close to a string of crab pots, along the shore to anchor in the lee of the land, to get out of the wind and waves.  The next morning a fisherman came zooming in to pull the pots, creating all kinds of a wake.  I think there was a message that he did not like where we had anchored even though we were clear of his pots .....
