August 28, 2021 - Russell Island

After seven days of long travel times, we took advantage of our location in the Gulf Islands and stopped at Russell Island for rest, positioning ourselves for our last leg home, and to rendezvous with Par Coeur, Karl and Allison.  Until we reached the Gulf Islands, we rarely came across many boats.  But once in the Gulf Islands, the traffic increased dramatically!  Of course, it was a nice, sunny, weekend and people were ready to get outdoors and enjoy themselves.

As we pulled up to Russell Island, it was packed with boats, so we anchored out a way to give ourselves room and not crowd the pack.  Karl tendered over and off we went to Par Coeur for a lovely happy hour.  It was great to get together, versus another zoom call!  Finishing off the lovely treats, we pooled resources for dinner aboard Raven.  It was a short evening as we needed to get another early start to make our final leg home and ready ourselves for doctor appointments.

  1. Wonderful to see Geary and Lois in person and in 3D. If I had known they were taking pictures of us at 0630 when departing Russel Island, I would have shaved and coiffed. OK that's a lie! I was still in a red wine coma.

  2. It was wonderful to get together, albeit, for a short time. Loved the photos taken by the lady in the blue kayak - glad we did not run over her (thanks Allison!).
BTW - what in the world were you doing up at 6:30 in the AM?
    Best - Geary
