November 1 - Repositioned to S-3
November 3 - Removed Keypower get-home drive. Good discovery in this process as the propeller shaft bolts were well torqued up at 80 ft-lbs. New discovery is that the transmission bolts were torqued to only 10 ft-lbs (NOT GOOD).
November 4 - Dissembled the get-home drive. Internals looked to be in good condition. However, the source of the oil leak is at the seal to coupling interface. There is a nice groove worn into the coupling approximately 0.003/0.005 deep where the lip of the seal rubs agains the coupling.
November 8 - Contacted Dean Yule at Keypower/Kobelt to understand the situation and possible repair scenarios. The wear is caused by very small particles of the ball bearings wearing off against the harder race and collecting on the lip of the seal. These particles then wear on the coupling resulting in the groove. A way to minimize is to install a magnetic plug to try to capture particulates in the oil. Repair scenarios are:
- Weld up the area
- Flame spray metal on the area
- Speedy sleeve
- Machine new part
- Turn down the coupling (remove groove) and instal new SS sleeve

Growing list of things not found during survey:
- Transmission bolts loose at 10 fl-lbs
- Balmar alternator dash light in-op
- P/H rope light connected with a 110V extension cord
- Poor water pump wiring
- A/C control in bunk room not connected
- AutoAnchor wiring is faulty
- Mystery toggle switch on F/B is for compass/rudder indicator light
- Leak path under name plate
- Corroded terminal buss block
- Faulty VHF/AIS wiring and failed antenna
- Gelcoat blisters - no evidence noted during survey
- Failing bottom paint - reported renewed in the fall of 2019
- Pitted drive shaft
- Failing shaft bearings - even though it had been serviced 2015 and 2016
- Bow thruster wiring issue
- Stabilizer system in need of significant maintenance even though reported they had been serviced in September 2019
- Failed Balmar regulator and missing thermal sensor connection
