Great progress finishing up work on Raven this past week.  The Keypower get-home drive was assembled before the weekend and was bench tested.  After sitting over the Thanksgiving weekend, and demonstrating no leaks, it was installed.

We took Raven out through the locks for a sea trial in Puget Sound into winds that were gusting 45 kts!  This was a great sea trial as we not only tested out the get-home drive but also the Wesmar stabilizers.

The get-home worked perfectly making 4 kts in a challenging sea state.  Checking the heat exchanger while underway we discovered it was slightly warm to the touch and decided to inspect the heat exchanger back at the dock.  Pulling it apart we found that part of one of the zincs had broken off and was restricting water flow.  (We subsequently tested the get-home drive in Lake Washington under calm conditions and reached a speed of 4.8 kts.)

The stabilizers presented a new learning.  With the strong winds gusting 45 kts, and taking the swells abeam, we found we were heeling over more than expected.  Upon review with Wesmar (on the phone) we found that the gyro needed re-setting as it had approximately 4° error.

All in all and great sea trail to check out these two systems.
