July 12, 2022 - Takatz Bay
We departed Hoonah and were headed for Pavlof Harbor. Glad to be off the dock after waiting out a weather system, we had a nice cruise down Icy Strait where we passed a group of whales, rounded the corner, and headed down Chatham Strait. I took this time to clean the flybridge cushions, boat deck and tender of the black soot balls while underway.
We passed Moonstruck, headed towards Glacier Bay, and Esprit d’Four headed towards Hoonah. Moonstruck shared Pavlof had only one boat and we were tempted to stop there, but with good conditions and a chance to rendezvous with Mark and Roseanne, we pressed on to Takatz.
We were the fifth boat into the bay and tried to anchor near the head of the bay, but there was not enough swing room between the shore and Koinonia. We finally repositioned out towards the center and due to the late hour and our fatigue, we passed on dinner aboard Koinonia.
