July 23, 2022 - Prince Rupert
The lumpy ride continued as we travelled down Revillagigedo Channel and settled as we entered Dixon Entrance and Chatham Sound. We called Canadian Customs enroute to try to check in via telephone, but they required us to check in at the dock.
Fortunately, we had called ahead for a slip reservation as there were several other boats arriving looking for a slip. We had tried Cow Bay Marina, but the only option was the outside breakwater. Prince Rupert Rowing and Yacht Club had moorage along the breakwater, and it was better protected so we opted to stay there. Nice facility and help – right adjacent to Cow Bay Marina.
Customs gave us the lecture when I responded to their inquiry about our on-board alcohol (41 bottles of unopened wine). Reminded me of the limitations and that there is no open bar stock for pleasure boats. He checked with Prince Rupert Customs and they both decided not to pursue any duty, just the verbal warning.
With successful customs clearance, it was off to a civilized, decent, dinner at the Crest Hotel. We had a lovely corner table and wonderful dinner.
