August 21,  2022 - Dent Island

We travelled to Dent at a leisurely pace, passing through the Penn Islands, arriving at the Yuculta rapids about 45 minutes early.  We made our way past Whirlpool Point and cruised up into Big Bay to wait for the current to ease in Gillard Passage.  Soon we found our way through the pass and at Dent Island Resort.  We negotiated our way to our spot at the head of the dock and settled in for the night.

We had a lovely dinner at the restaurant and on a whim, scheduled a charter for the next morning before we would have to leave on the afternoon slack.  Our guide was Harley Elias and he knew Steve Babcock from our Campbell River charter.  Our charter was a bit disappointing as we only caught one medium sized Chinook and several small fries.  We concluded the fishing opportunities, and guide services, in the Dent area were not as good as Campbell River and we would not repeat a charter here.

Next to us was a lovely sloop Avvento a Spirit 44e built in the UK.
