August 25, 2022 - Squirrel Cove
We cut our stay short at Walsh and repositioned to Squirrel Cove, to rendezvous with Artemis. We were surprised to find the bay not as crowded as we had feared. Pulling into the bay we rafted up to Artemis. It was great to see Ron, Gretchen, and Gracie out cruising. We pooled resources and had a nice dinner on Artemis, catching up on recent happenings.
The next day we put out the boats and all four of us kayaked around the cove, taking photos in front of the lagoon and the rafted-up boats. We had another nice dinner on Artemis – but before diner, Geary and Ron took T/T Raven over to the lagoon to check out the entrance. Since it was late and still flooding, we abandoned the idea of entering the lagoon – back to dinner!
The next day, Lois, Geary, Gretchen, and Gracie went for a 2.5 km hike to Von Donop Inlet. It was a good hike over and uneventful. On the return, however, Lois had a stumble and fell forward, scuffing up her nose. Thank goodness no serious injury! After a moment, she got up and completed the return in good spirits. Getting back to the boat she was surprised to see how her nose had been scraped. With Gretchen’s help, did a bit of clean up on the scrape and soon Lois was on the mend. Dinner was on Raven this night with Lois fixing a halibut dinner and crab salad.
The next day we were off to an early start to catch the ebb tide south in the Strait of Georgia.
