August 5,  2022 - McIntosh Bay, Simoom Sound

We were going to check out Laura Cove as a possible anchorage and enroute passed by Echo Bay.  It was a sad sight with only one boat at the dock, not the bustling site we are accustomed to seeing when Pierre and Tova ran the marina.

We checked out Laura Cove and abandoned the idea when we saw a black float right in the middle of the anchorage!  Our fallback was Simoom Sound, so off we went to find anchorage there.  We pulled into McIntosh Bay and anchored in the middle in 80’ of water – but – we were well protected from wind in this location and had adequate (but close) swing room.  Since it was sunny and pleasant when we arrived, we put out all the boats and went for kayak around the bay to Hannant Point and back.

The next day, after breakfast Lois got a row in around the bay.  For the rest of the day, Lois worked on presentations and Geary read his book.  In the afternoon we met a couple from Mellow Moments, Terri and Hans, who came by in their kayaks.  They later invited us, along with Rick and Carol-Ann from Sea Foam, for happy hour.  We had a very nice time getting to know everyone.  Rick and Carol-Ann have a tender, Sea Spray, which they use as a dive boat.  After a late evening we returned to have a halibut dinner.

Next morning, we pulled up all the boats and off to our next anchorage.
