Easy cruise across Haro Strait. Biggest concern was clearing Canadian Customs. After providing a full report on our food and beverage stores, we were placed on a long hold. The officer at the Nexus office called the local office who explained that our provisioning was not uncommon and gave us clearance to enter Canada. We received our clearance number, landed at the Customs dock behind Foreign Affair, and then headed to Philbrook’s to complete the last of our repairs.
The teak trim pieces for the window frames were a good fit as well as the color match. After performing slight trimming of each piece to custom fit each frame, they were caulked to the stainless backing plate and a bead of color matched epoxy was applied around the edges to complete the installation.
The Portuguese bridge door was also completed and reinstalled.
The davit was also inspected to evaluate the hooks occasional sticking when being lowered and the slow creep down of the hook over time. Conclusion is that there may be a leaking internal seal in the actuator and that the center lock valve may be sticking. We are scheduling to address these in January 2024.
