We timed out departure from Clam Bay to make it through Gabriola Pass at slack current.  As we turned to enter the Pass we found two tugs moving a log boom through the Pass!  Fortunately, they had not reached the neck and were allowing us to motor by them before getting the boom into the neck.  As we scooted through, we eyed Kendrick Island, and the Strait of Georgia.  Seeing a couple of boats at Kendrick Island, and calm waters in the Strait, we opted to press on to Howe Sound.  While crossing the Strait, we also performed an engine run up and recorded temperature and pressure measurements.  As we entered Center Bay of Gambier Island to check out a couple of anchorages, we came across a group of sea lions frolicking on the surface.  As we motored pass the RVYC dock, we saw a significant number on their dock, their weight almost submerging the dock.  The two anchorages in Center Bay did not give us the best anchoring so we chose to head around the point to Port Graves Bay.  Taking note of the cautionary information about log boom cables on the bottom, we anchored towards the center of the bay in about 35’ with plenty of swing room.
