We got an early start with Ellipsis to make the morning slack at Mud Bay. On our journey we passed numerous whales feeding along the shoreline. And as we pulled into Mud Bay, we had whales feeding there, a sprinkling of sea otters and an occasional sea lion, all keeping us company as we anchored and fished the bay. With the anchor set at 7:35 AM, we fished until 10:45 AM with Carl and Melody pulling in three halibut. Even though we could feel the fish biting at the bate we only brought in one. And to make it more interesting, we though Ellipsis had repositioned when we realized we had dragged anchor over 1/2 nm from where we had set the anchor at a 2:1scope. Once underway we decided to head to Dundas Bay to visit an area where Carl and Melody had seen moose and bear. As we entered the channel to the bay, we saw lots of sea otters and rounding the corner we were struck by the beauty of the bay, a beautiful anchorage with a meadow at the head of the bay surrounded by stunning mountains of granite. We rafted to Ellipsis, got settled, and cleaned our fish. Soon we were treated to a moose and a bear roaming the meadow! Lois went rowing with Melody, in kayak, to tour the meadow and stream, remaining bear aware. Later that evening we had a lovely halibut dinner with cornbread.

The next day we had a lovely Father’s Day breakfast, crab scramble, and muffins and lots of time to chat. Lois and Geary took turns rowing around the bay with Carl and Melody out in the kayak, finishing off with another lovely halibut dinner.
