June 27, 2023 - Ushk Bay

As we left Takatz, we took a detour past Kasnyku Falls which was running in a full state thanks to the recent rain.  After viewing the falls, we continued on to Peril Strait and where we had a close encounter with a whale, surfacing within 100’ of the boat!  Continuing up Peril Strait, we

pulled into Nismeni Cove to check it out as a possible anchorage but concluded it was too exposed for the current whether conditions and pressed on to Ushk Bay.  We found our location well protected and an easy anchorage as we were the only boat in the bay.  Soon Lois had spotted a deer grazing along the shore.  With calm and dry conditions, we deployed the kayaks and rowboat and had a nice tour of the bay.
