We got an early start as we knew we would be going against the current in Wrangell Narrows and wanted to make the mid-day slack at Petersburg. The early departure would put us just at the tide/current change going to ebb. The thought was this was the better shoulder of the change than leaving later and entering when the current was full on and starting to turn to slack. Near North Point four deer were spotted, two doe and two fawn, grazing along the shore. And as we neared Green Point, we spotted a couple of eagles keeping watch. As we entered Scow Bay, we dropped the anchor along the east shore at 7:15 AM to wait for the current to ease at Petersburg. While waiting we had a nice crab scramble for breakfast and cleaning of the interior was performed. At 10:00 AM we started up and arrived at dock at 11:30 with the slack current/tide. After an uneventful docking at D-dock in the south harbor it was off to the grocery and hardware store to pick up supplies followed by dinner at Inga’s.

We met some of the Waggonner Flotilla at Inga,s and around the dock. We also learned that Mauve Marie had indeed caught up with the group. Paul & Becky Russel of Ellie K shared that they had overheard Lois’s call to the harbormaster, “Peter master”, to which we all shared a laugh. We also met John Bukowsky & Chase Morgan off Miss Treva; a Nauticat 51 out of Poulsbo, whom we gave a tour of Raven as they are considering making the change. And Lois saw a couple of deckhands going down the dock with pizza boxes to which she learned that Studebakers Pizza (907-772-5000) delivers to the dock. Timely as the pizza place in town was closed due to high school graduation.
