July 22, 2023 - Ell Cove

As we departed, we picked up our crab pots after letting them soak overnight.  We pulled up ten crabs: six in one pot and four in the other, all very large male keepers on the order of 8 ½ “.  We let four go and kept the remaining six, and en-route we cleaned and cooked the crabs.  As we made our way down Chatham Strait, we had a whale surface within 20’ of the boat, it’s large pectoral fin flipping up in the air as it turned to avoid us – quite the unexpected sight.

In the morning, we did two loads of laundry and shelled three of the six crabs before departing.
