August 10, 2023 - Kynoch Inlet
Under a drizzly morning, we traveled to the head of Green Inlet to view the rapids from the lagoon. As we were arriving at high tide, they were diminished but still strong. At low tide, it can be imagined the rapid roaring as reported in Douglas. We left the inlet under calm conditions passing through bands of drizzle making our way to Kynoch Falls, always a spectacular sight, continuing to the head of Kynoch Inlet where we anchored. Shortly after our arrival we spotted one bear, then two, roaming along the marshland. There was a break in the weather, and we were near slack, so we lowered the tender for a ride into Culpepper Lagoon. As we made our way towards the head of the lagoon, it started to rain, so we called it and headed back to Raven. We waited for the rain band to pass before pulling up the tender under more settled conditions. And as the evening calmed, we watched as the advection fog formed on the water.
