August 15 & 16, 2023 - Waddington Bay
We departed under calm winds making our way into ocean swells of 3- 4’as forecasted. Approaching Cape Caution, fog began to build making the trek down Queen Charlotte Strait under low visibility using radar and keeping a sharp eye for logs. We made our way to Arrow Passage where we finally began to see enough clearing to make out land.
We stayed a second day to relax and enjoy a clearing day. Boats had come and gone with two notable changes, Porosity(Selene 59) and Sandana (53’ Outer Reef, Newport R.I.). As Lois rowed about the bay, she struck up a conversation with Sandy and Dan from Sandana who had just come from Lagoon Cove where they had met Barb and Eric (BarbEric) and George and Sal (My Gal Sal)! Dan invited us over for a drinks where we learned this was a shakedown cruise of their new boat. We shared boating stories, learning about their treks on the east coast and their excitement to cruise the Pacific Northwest and to Alaska next year.
