August 17, 2023 - Lagoon Cove
We left a calm bay and transited down Retreat Passage in intermittent fog. As we neared Queen Charlotte Strait the winds were building as well as the wind waves. We considered cutting through Spring Passage or Provdence Passage to enter Knight Inlet but chose to go out to QCS as conditions were not too lumpy making for easier navigation as we have not previously transited either of these passages. We did see two smaller boats transit Spring Passage, and in settled conditions, this would have been a passage we would have tried. The conditions in Knight Inlet were calm except for the intermittent fog. As we pulled into Lagoon Cove, we spotted BarbEric at the dock. We quickly connected with Barb and Eric and joined them at the potluck – which had an exciting event. The winds were gusting as we were enjoying our shrimp when one of the nearby trees snapped and fell in the vicinity of the gathering. Dan and Heidi asked that we move the potluck out to the dock for safety reasons.
