August 18, 2023 - Port Harvey

Leaving through the Blowhole to Chatham Channel, we considered anchoring at Boughey Bay, however, since it was still early in the day, we thought we would try Mist Ilets, a closer anchorage to Johnstone making for a quicker transit tomorrow morning.  Mist Ilets now has two mooring buoys in it and industrial activity, no longer a suitable anchorage.  We pressed on a bit further and anchored in the nook at Mist Bluff.  As we settled in for dinner, we were treated to an Orca showing, at least two adults and two calves!  We watched as they swam along the opposite shoreline for over 30 minutes, delaying our dinner as we watched.  We had calm conditions for the night making for a peaceful anchorage.  We later learned that Boughey Bay was blustery until late into the evening/early morning.
