August 22, 2023 - Gowlland Harbour

We left Blind Channel under clam conditions with an easy transit down Johnstone Strait and Discovery Passage with the initial plan to stop at Kanish Bay.  With the need for cell service early the next day, we decided to press on and make a near slack transit through Seymour Narrows.  The timing worked well as we arrived at Gowlland at slack making for an easy entrance with no current.  Soon we lowered the tender and took a look at April Point Lodge, passing a sunken barge hulk, and traveled up the bay to check out the sunken lodge and the Camp Homewood.

The next day we did housekeeping chores most of the morning.  As we stopped for lunch we saw SaltHeart pull into the bay.  The reported making the trek from Hakai to Gowlland in two days and were exhausted.  We wrapped up our efforts and invited them over for dinner and a chance to relax for the evening.  We had a nice dinner and conversation aboard Raven, catching up on our travel experiences since parting at Tracy Arm.  Dean closed out the evening with his customary playing of Taps with his bugle from the bow of SaltHeart.
