June 25, 2024 - Tracy Arm to Taku

We woke to a clearing sky, a good sign that we would have good viewing weather! Arriving at South Sawyer Glacier, we were able to navigate up to the glacier as the area was not packed with bergie bits. And like last year, we did see seals and pups on the bergie bits. We managed to make a couple of passes in front of the glacier – the only boat there! Justin started the drone up but wound up which his thumb getting a few minor cuts from the blades. We put Nevermore in the water, and Geary was able to row out and take photos of Raven in front of the glacier. We made our way over to the North Sawyer Glacier where we discovered that there must have been minor damage to the blades which kept it from flying (and another cut thumb). Geary was back in Nevermore to take the photo of Raven in front of the glacier. We then headed out, with boats passing us on their way to the glacier, making our way to Taku. We did stop along the way at Point Anmer to try our hand at mooching one more time – no luck! We pulled in late, where there were already several boats at anchor, ready for a good night’s rest from the long day.
