 May 31 - June 2, 2024 - Madan Bay

The trip to Madan, up Blake Canal was nice, even in the rain.  The transit through The Narrows was uneventful, even though we were an hour ahead of slack.  Madan is a large open bay with a nice nook in the northwest corner providing shelter from the southerly winds.  As we pulled around the corner it looked like we would have the pick of the bay – except – someone had left a large orange float in the middle of the nook!  This forced us to find a spot closer in than we typically like, however, it worked out well as we were tucked in close to shore and out of the wind.  On to dispatching and cooking the crabs!

We woke to a broken sky and calm conditions.  We took advantage of this weather window to take a row around the head of the inlet, a ¾ mile row, taking about an hour each.  The rainy afternoon was spent shelling crab, packaging, and doing laundry.

Sunday Geary performed an inspection of the generators and oil check with no issues identified.  That afternoon High Slack pulled in and anchored nearby on their way to Petersburg in the morning.
