We left Pybus under calm conditions and partly sunny! Underway, as Lois and Beth finished shelling the crab we had caught at Tenakee, we crossed Frederick Sound, south of the Brothers Islands, where we spotted a large bergie bit. We made a close pass to the bergie bit for a photo opportunity for Beth. Upon arrival at Petersburg, we were given a slip assignment in south harbor to accommodate an extended stay. To wrap up the night, we had pizza delivered from Studebaker’s!
The next day both Lois and Beth flew back to Seattle. As the duration of Lois’s return to Seattle was uncertain, Geary got busy preparing to remove and replace the raw water pump on the 6 kW generator as the shaft seal had started dripping sea water.
With spare parts in hand, and a better gear puller from the local NAPA store that the one on-board, the raw water pump was successfully replaced, tested and no more drip! From there, it was on to housekeeping chores such as laundry and vacuuming the boat.
