July 26, 2024 - St. John Harbor
We chose to leave mid-day to arrive at St. John Harbor in the afternoon, bucking the current, versus an early morning departure and fog or a late evening departure. Viewing the Wrangell Narrows at low tide was something we had not seen before. Fortunately, we had plenty of water underneath us and no on-coming traffic until we exited into Sumner Strait where we came across a small cruise ship headed into the narrows. Arriving at the harbor, we both took turns with the rowboat where Lois managed to spot what we believe is an eagle’s nest in a nearby tree! We settled in for a quiet evening with one other boat in the harbor.
