 July 27, 2024 - St. John Harbor

Leisurely start under misty conditions.  We traveled along the shoreline south of Point Saint John looking for Coho on the sonar with no luck.  As slack approached, we headed to our flat top in Sumner Strait near Macnamara Point.  Despite the tide/current charts, we did have an ebb current at the predicted slack.  Soon though, the current did turn to slack and then to flood.  Then we started getting action.  We caught two 24” halibut and then two 28” halibut.  With our limit, we headed back to St. John Harbor to process the fish.  At first we were the only boat in the harbor, however, were soon joined by a sailboat and four other fishing boats, along with developing fog.
