 July 9, 2024 -Sevenfathom Bay

With a couple of weather systems forecasted to arrive late in the week and weekend, we decided to try fishing near the ocean waters, yet remaining close by to Sitka as we have a guest scheduled to soon arrive.  We headed towards the islands southeast of Biorka Island as we had previously seen charter boats headed in that direction.  Arriving at Elovoi Island, we found ourselves alone (no charter boats) and proceeded around to Windy Passage such that we could fish near the open waters yet anchor in protected bays.  As we made our way to Sevenfathom Bay we had much discussion about the sonar settings to best use for fish finding along with possible land/bottom structure around which to fish the next day.  Anchoring in the bay, we were surprised at the number of jellyfish and sea nettles in the bay!

Before departing, Geary took a morning row of the bay and was able to locate the USFS cabin tucked in around the corner at the head of the bay.
