June 9, 2025 Whitestone Harbor

We got an early start with the objective of halibut fishing at low tide in Iyoukeen Cove.  We arrived just after 7:00 AM, had hooks in the water by 7:30 AM and had two fish in about 30 minutes!  Awhile later, Geary had two fish on one set of tackle!  While not as large as we wanted, we had (2) 26”, (1) 25” and (1) 23”.  We wanted to let the small one go, but he was bleeding significantly and there was not an easy way to remove the hook without further damage.  We kept him and he provided fish sandwiches for lunch.  We filleted the four fish and left at 11:30 AM for Whitestone Harbor.  Once there, we started to make water to replenish the tanks and found that the water maker was not performing optimally.  Geary cleaned the pre-filter and tried again, and no it would not make water – the high-pressure setting would not climb above 72 PSI.  An email to FCI helped trouble shoot and identified the root cause as likely slippage of the actuator control stem to the high-pressure valve.  A simple procedure to rectify – IF – you have access or remove plumbing to get to the parts. We decided to move on with the knowledge we may have to ration our water.
