July 11, 2025 - Honey Dew - Backup

As we left Chapin Bay, we found ourselves in a very lumpy, confused, sea state with 4’ waves.  Working through conditions looking for a better sea state, we abandoned our plan for Takatz and headed straight across to Honey Dew anchorage to get out of the conditions.  As we approached Keku Strait the sea state improved making for a comfortable anchorage.  We later learned that Forever Young coming from South Chatham had 7’ swells and in North Chatham, where we wanted to go, Salt Heart had 6’ breakers!  Once at anchor, we had settled conditions.
