July 20, 2025 - Geikie Inlet

This was a stellar day!  It was a warm and sunny with a calm sea state, and not too many boats.  The morning started with an early arrival at Tarr Inlet as we followed Alaska Story past the bergie bits along the east shore, with a brown bear grazing along the shoreline.  The two of our boats positioned in front of the Margerie Glacier and were treated to a mesmerizing performance as Margerie Glacier was not only calving, but there were also large bergs shooting up from underwater, both sending swells towards us.  An amazing site and gift.  From there we made out way around the corner to Johns Hopkins Inlet, making our way up to the glacier.  While making loud noises, it did not calve the way Margerie Glacier – however – still an amazing spectacle.
