August 4, 2025 - St. John Harbor

Easy transit through the narrows – calm conditions.  As we approached St. John Harbor, we decided to try mooching for salmon near the point.  After an hour and fourth five minutes – no luck – on to the anchorage.  Reviewing the weather forecast for our Dixon Entrance crossing, we decided to accelerate our planned crossing from Saturday to Thursday as winds and sea state are kicking up on Friday and Saturday.  We would make a stop and halibut fish in the morning and move further down Clarence Strait to our next anchorage, positioning for the crossing on the 6th.  We sent a request to Cow Bay Marina to revise our reservation and enjoyed a lovely sunset.  Before the night is over, we would be joined by two commercial fishing boats.
